February 7, 2023

Have you ever sat down to plan out your brand’s visual aesthetic and felt overwhelmed? With so many different elements to consider, it can be hard to keep track of them all. That’s why creating a vision board on Pinterest is the perfect way to capture and organize all the ideas you have for your photography brand. We love to use Pinterest not only to find inspiration around specific brand elements such as fonts or colors but also to help identify the overall aesthetic and “feel” of the brand.

When using Pinterest to gather ideas, we pin everything from colors to home decor, to clothing, studio inspirations and more. We want to flush out the entire brand identity and really make sure that everything is cohesive and flows beautifully.

Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of using Pinterest for your Photography branding.

Find Inspiration Quickly

The best thing about having a vision board is that you can quickly reference it whenever you need inspiration- this goes for your designer too! Instead of spending hours scrolling through Instagram or browsing websites, cutting and taping images to a board, you can go directly to your Pinterest brand vision board and find exactly what you need in just a few clicks. Plus, when adding items to your vision board, make sure to add notes about why each image was chosen and how it ties in with your branding. This will help you maintain continuity throughout all aspects of your business.

Having multiple ideas floating around in your head can be overwhelming; organizing them into one place creates clarity where there was once chaos! By keeping everything organized in one place, such as on your Photography Branding Pinterest vision board, it’s easier for you (and anyone else working on the project) to understand what needs to be done and your thoughts around the visual identity of your brand. Not only does this make things more efficient, but it also helps ensure that no important details fall by the wayside during the process. When working through a new brand, sharing your Pinterst board is crucial for conveying your vision.

Create an Photography Brand Aesthetic Roadmap

Your vision board acts as an aesthetic roadmap for your photography business, allowing you to create images that are cohesive and consistent across platforms. When creating a consistent brand aesthetic, it’s important to pay attention not only to visuals, but also to the types of content that are being shared on social media. You should always be looking for new opportunities and ideas while staying true to the core values of your brand. With a vision board, this becomes much easier; just reference it every time before sharing new content online so that everything remains on-brand.

Pinterest Traffic

While going through the process of pinning photography branding inspiration, the bonus is that you’re creating great Pinterest traffic. Be intentional about how you pin, make sure that the title and descriptions still make sense.  While you’re pining this great content, you are serving your Pinterest followers with content your ideal client will likely be totally into! That’s the beauty of using Pinterest to create your brand inspiration. You want your brand to attract those dream clients right from the start and what a better way than to have your pins grab attention from the very start. Chances are really high that your dream photography clients, also vibe with your home decor ideas and your clothing inspiration. It’s really a win win!

Creating a vision board on Pinterest is an effective way for photographers and creative entrepreneurs alike to get organized and visualize their success! By capturing all the ideas they have for their brand in one place, they can easily access inspiration whenever they need it while simultaneously creating an aesthetic roadmap for their business and those that work within it.

Here is how we get started with our photography branding vision board on Pinterest:

  1. Head to Pinterest – this site was MADE for moodboards.
  2. Start your Brand Inspiration Board. You can achieve this by clicking on your name on the right hand side of the screen, and you will be taken to your boards. Use the “create a board” button on the left hand side of the screen, name your board, and add details like a description, category, etc. Once you complete these steps, your board will be ready for you to add ideas to it!
  3. BEFORE YOU START PINNING – refresh yourself on your ideal client and try to get into their headspace. Choose 3 key words that you want to embody your brand. Write them down and have them in front of you while you search. This will help you visualize the elements and style you’d like to incorporate into your brand. A good idea when looking at images is to use the search bar.  Pinterest will bring up all the related “pins”. If you get tired of looking at pins, you can also use a search engine, and use the “Pin it” button on the website you visit (most websites will have this button available, and if they do not, you can still grab the link, and add it to your Pinterest mood board).
  4. Start pinning! Save as many images that catch your eye, give off the ‘vibe’ you are going for (your three words from point 4.), and that you think would appeal to your ideal client. These could be images such as:
  • art + illustration
  • home decor
  • photography + imagery
  • textures + colors
  • logos, packaging, graphic designs
  • celebrities/mentors/public figures that embody your brand vibe
  • examples of who your ideal client is in their various environments
  •  images you just find inspiring for a reason you can’t describe
  1. CULL – Once you’ve got upwards of 100+ images, go through your board and look for themes in terms of colors, style and vibe. Remove any outliers until the imagery appears cohesive and has just a few standout elements.

Voila! That is how we use Pinterest for aligning our brand throughout all of our marketing channels and also how our team stays aligned visually with your photography brand.
